We are an award-winning, family-owned and operated bakery located on South Broadway in Denver, Colorado. At Azucar Bakery our passion is to produce breathtaking and delicious custom cakes, cupcakes, pastries and desserts that will not only compliment your special events but be remembered for years to come. We will work with you to take your ideas and inspiration and turn them into reality.
Our history . . .
Our founder, Marjorie Silva, came to the United States in 2001 with a multi-layer dream covered in frosting. She began baking in her native land of Peru and always had dreams of coming to the United States to open her own bakery. In 2007, she opened Azucar Bakery in Denver, Colorado and five years later, after outgrowing her small store, moved to the bakery’s current location. In June 2017, after a successful ten years in business, Marjorie decided that it was time to retire and pass on the spatula to new owners Crystal & Gary DeZao.
The current owners, James L. Williams and Janet D. Williams, took over the reins of Azucar Bakery in 2020 and are providing our customers with personalized service and delicious products handmade with love and quality. “Less Hate, More Cake!” James is a professional chef with over 30 years of experience in New Orleans, San Antonio and Tampa, prior to his move to Denver. Janet has previously been co-owner of a cafe in Morrison, CO, and both are excited about serving the Denver community.
